Southampton fans have had a torrid time of late due to a run of poor results and lacklustre performances on the pitch.

Earlier today, the club headed to Vicarage Road to face Watford on the back of a nine-game winless run in the Premier League.

Initially it seemed that the Saints’ luck had changed when James Ward-Prowse put the visiting side ahead in the 20th minute.

The 23-year-old managed to double the lead and his tally by scoring again just before there half-time break.

Watford responded in the second half, though, as Andre Gray pulled a goal back for the hosts.

After the fourth official indicated five minutes of added time, the Hornets scored an equaliser that should never have stood.

Troy Deeney’s header aimed towards Abdoulaye Doucoure, who ended up guiding the ball past the goalkeeper with his hand.
